jumper

We found this guy (or I guess girl) in the egress window.  Afton named it Jumper and spent a considerable amount of time pulling its legs, petting it, and talking to it.  We had to put Jumper in a bucket while we went in the house during a storm.  Needless to say, Jumper jumped out.  Afton was bummed.  (If Aunt Becky is reading this post, so sorry to be freaking you out!!!)

Sleeping Goggles

Afton bought this eye mask at a garage sale for 10 cents. She calls it her sleeping goggles. Last night when I went in her room to turn off her lamp, this is how I found her. I could not resist taking a picture. Now I wonder if she kept them on all night???

When the kids get the camera

Apparently I did not realize that the girls took my camera to take pictures of themselves in Afton's new room.  I had to delete A LOT of photos of blurred hands, toes, carpet, and who knows what.  I thought I would share a few of their shots.  Kind of funny to see what they like to capture.

Here are some clothes hanging from her desk...  I think they were playing store???

Birthday, American Girl Style

Avery had a very special birthday treat!  She got her very first American Girl doll.  I took her to the Chicago store and we also had a birthday lunch with her new AG Doll, Julie.

I have been past the AG store in NYC, I have looked at the catalog, and I have seen other girls dolls.  I truly wasn't fully aware of the overwhelming amount of "stuff" that is inside the store!!!!  I was in awe of how many accessories, clothes, and extras the dolls have.  I think one of my favorite things was the sleeping bag and camping gear.  I thought it was so cute.  Also, the glasses, wheelchairs, crutches, slings, casts, and other medical items were kind of interesting.  I guess the people at AG figure that they want the girls to have real life items for their dolls.  Although it was an extremely pricey excursion, I can't wait to do it with Afton!!!

Waiting for the train.

Finally at the store.

Kids Say

I honestly wish that I would take the time to write down all the funny things and observations that my kids make.  How funny would it be to go through a notebook full of their mindful insights and clever observations 20 years from now?

Saturday morning we were all sitting in the kitchen.  I had our cat Dexter in my lap.  The girls would love it if he would even give them the time of day!!!  Avery asked Chad why Dexter loves mommy so much.  We tried to explain to them it is because I sit still and do not try to pick him up all the time.  I told them that Dexter thinks I am his mommy.  (maybe I shouldn't have said that!!)  Afton chimes in, "Was Dexter in your belly too???"  Oh dear, I really do not want to start explaining where babies come from yet.

Sunday morning we were on our way home from church and there is a DeLorean parked on the side of the road with its doors up.  For those of you who do not know what a DeLorean is, think of the car from Back to The Future.  If you still do not know, please google it or click HERE
Avery was commenting on how cool it would be to have a car that has doors that go up like that.  Chad was being silly and told them that he thinks that car would fly.   The girls thought that would be so cool. (I think one of them actually believes it too!)  Afton pipes up with a huge smile and says:  "We could fly high up to the sky and go see Jesus!"

Now, I will have to keep my ears open and a pen ready for the next darndest things they say!
