Getting ready to go out in the SNOW!!!

Today we got about 9 inches of snow, on top of all the freezing rain, on top of all the snow that we got a few days ago. Well, we have yet to get the girls out for some fun times in the snow.... Here is why: There is too many articles of clothing to put on them that by the time you are finally ready, you are too exhausted to do anything. Needless to say, we did make it out for about 10 minutes! sigh.

not happy!

I don't understand what she had to be upset about????

tv time

I thought these pics were really cute of the girls watching their "stories". They just sit there together so peacefully. Too bad they weren't always like that.

Protests, Prunes, and Poops!

Well...it has been a trying time here at the Thomas house. As most of you know, we took away Afton's beloved ba-ba on January 11th. She now goes to sleep without such dramatics. i.e. hours of crying!! Now, she cries for a little while and finally sleeps. However, we have had other issues. She is testing out good ol' mom and dad's willpower of not resorting to giving her a bottle by crying non stop when she gets up in the morning, or just randomly crying at any given moment during the day. I will have to give her credit for her persistance, however we will win this battle!!!! On top of this, we have been having a little bit of issues in the poop department. Since Afton began her strike of sippy cups, she has now become a little constipated due to the fact she is not drinking enough liquid and eating more dairy products. However, today was a good morning. We had poop!! yay!!!! I discovered that my little one's LOVE prunes. They were crying when I took them away. I just thought to myself, if I keep giving them these prunes, I am going to have to cover the house in plastic!! :-)
Avery has also been going through some very big milstones along with her sister. Avery not only has graduated to her big girl bed with flying colors, but she has also given up binkies (okay, she still asks for them, but I tell her that they are on vacation) and she is going pee on the potty very consistently! I cannot express enough how proud I am of her. She is such a big girl now and I celebrate her achievements everyday! She gets to put a sticker on her chart after each time she pees on her little potty and she gets a high five for doing such a good job.
I hope that the next time I blog, I will have some positive news about Afton. We will keep working on her acceptance of drinking from a cup. Wish us luck!

We've Got Cabin Fever!

Here are some silly pics...not much really going on. We are kind of hibernating because it is just too darn cold to go do anything!!!! Avery was having some fun pushing her little sis around in her baby doll stroller. Chad was encouraging this...even though the tag on the back of the stroller explicitly says "This Toy Not Intended For A Child!" Following directions really isn't on the top of his agenda!!! :-0

It's going to be a stressful time!

Well, its official. We have taken away Afton's ba-ba. She is NOT happy. Needless to say, she does not nap the way she used to, and is just plain ol' cranky! We decided to do this on Thursday, but gave in to the bottle a couple of times only because Friday she cried all day long. I am not exaggerating, she really cried from about 9:30 am till about 6:00 pm, with very few rests in between. Friday was supposed to be a great day too. I dropped Avery off at her class, which is a lengthly 4 hours, to go to get Afton's 1 year photo taken. I had Afton all dolled up in a cute little dress, only to have her cry and cling to me during the photo session. I don't know why I am calling it a photo session, it was really 10 pictures and I left!!!! She fell asleep in the car for a while so I thought, I can go to Target to pick up a few things....well noooooooo, I had to carry her and push the cart all through the store (while she cried). Saturday was a pretty good day not as much crying as the day before, but I think we gave into the bottle. Today (Sunday) and forward will be the true test. Wish us all luck. It is a really hard transition for Afton and I feel so bad for her. We will keep you posted and then it is off to "OPERATION BINKY" for Avery. Uggghhh, I am not ready for that one!! :-)

Helping out with G-pa's birds

I think we may have a future "birder" on our hands. Avery sure enjoyed helping G-pa with the birds and she really loved her awesome new binoculars. (made by mommy) She commented that she was "going on a safari". Poor Afton was stuck in the house. She was really interested in what was going on outside. Of course, she always wants to do what her big sis is doing.

Is this a nap? Is this an accident?

I found these 2 pics on our camera...I am not sure if this was a little siesta that Afton was taking, or it quite possibly could be big sis Avery pushing lil' sis down the steps!!!
